Direct Proportion

In class we learnt how to answer direct proportion questions.  This is the method we discussed:
1. Write down the proportion statement (use ‘fish’ symbol)
2. Rewrite with a k in it
3. Substitute the two values you’re given
4. Work out k
5. Rewrite the equation with the value of k in it
6. Use this equation to find the answers
Remember to read the question carefully to ensure you use the correct terms in the proportion statement (for example, it could be the square of x or the cube root of x).
Next lesson we’ll look at inverse proportion.
Have you noticed the 'fish' symbol anywhere else in life? It looks a bit like an ichthys. Google ichthys to find out what it is.
